Pet Care Partners
You will need to turn to some other source or someone else to care for your dog many times throughout his life. You may have options to consider whether your dog needs regular day care because of your long working hours and can’t be home to walk or feed him, or you need long-term care because you receive a work assignment in another city for a month or more, or you simply need someone to watch your dog while you vacation for a week.
Consider your dog’s personality and temperament before making a decision. If you aren’t comfortable having a stranger take care of your dog, perhaps you can find a friend who is willing to care for him in your home for a fee.
Above all, ensure that the facility or caretaker you are hiring will keep your dog safe and secure. Price, comfort, health and safety are all valid concerns when choosing a caretaker for your dog. After all, you are entrusting someone with one the most emotionally valuable things of your life, so it’s only normal that you feel wary.
Emergencies
Life is full of unexpected, and that’s true of your dog’s life too. Personal and community emergencies can and do happen. Because the only predictable thing in life is that life is unpredictable, we should all be prepared for emergencies. To keep your puppy safe, take a three-prong approach to emergencies; prevent, prepare and respond.
